Engagement Photography starting at £125

Engagement sessions are not only a fabulous and fun addition to your wedding photography experience but they also give us a chance to get to know each other a little better and get you ready for your wedding

So, you’ve just got engaged to the most special person in your life and you’re already starting to think about making plans for your wedding day. As an experienced wedding photographer based in Louth, Lincolnshire, I would always suggest an engagement photoshoot. They are super fun. And, what’s more, is that an engagement photoshoot not only gives you the chance to get used to how I work with you before your special day - but who doesn’t love the idea of having even more wonderful images to display around their home or use on their wedding save-the-dates or invitations?!

So often, my couples are quick to tell me when we first start talking about their wedding photography that they ‘hate having their picture taken’

What better way to get used to being in front of the camera ahead of your wedding than an engagement photo session? I love capturing beautiful timeless images of couples being themselves and simply enjoying each other’s company. We walk, we chat, you get to find out about how I work, I get to find out about you. While many of the images that I create during an engagement photography session are candid and you probably won’t even realise have been captured, there will of course be some that are posed. No need to run away in fear! Having your photo taken should be a comfortable experience and not one to be anxious about. My aims during an engagement photoshoot are simple: make you feel comfortable and relaxed, and capture creative images that you will be able to look back on years to come. As a professional Lincolnshire based experienced wedding and engagement photographer I have many ways to get the best out of you and give you best experience possible.

I would highly recommend Darren. Right from the moment I booked my session, I received great communication to ensure that I received the most from my shoot. Not only did I share what I was hoping for from my photos but Darren also produced some brilliant ideas that fitted the occasion I wanted to capture.
He is definitely a photographer to trust when wanting to cherish moments through lasting images. Darren was friendly and I could immediately see the passion he has for his work, which made the shoot very relaxing and filled me with confidence. The whole experience was truly exciting and something I will really remember. Every image that Darren produced was better than I had imagined. They really did capture everything I was hoping for and lots more in a very natural environment. I will definitely be using Darren again for future Life Moments.

What do I get asked the most?

  • Engagement sessions are a great way to mark the occasion and really help to prepare you for what to expect on your wedding day. An engagement session is also a perfect time to capture great images to use on your ‘save the date’ cards!

As well as being very relaxed, it is always great to have professional images of you both to display around your home and an engagement session helps both those who are comfortable in front of the camera and those who might need some support to become more confident having their photograph taken. You will learn posing tips and and get a feel for the pace of photographing your wedding day.

  • In short - as soon as possible! My diary soon fills up so it is always a good idea to make arrangements early for your engagement session, particularly if you have a certain date or time of year in mind.

If you require a weekend or need to fit in with work commitments, please do let me know at the earliest opportunity so that I can check my availability for you.

  • Your engagement session will last around one-and-a-half hours. Afterwards, once the images from the session have been fully edited, you will be able to download them from your online gallery and we can arrange to get them printed if you wish. If your engagement session is part of a Your Big Day wedding booking with me, your finished images will also be included digitally along with your wedding photographs.

  • This is a difficult one and, truthfully, I can’t give you an answer. It very much depends on what happens during the session, the location and weather, plus other factors. The one thing I can tell you is that you will receive a great selection of images from the session fully-edited and in high resolution. From my many past experiences of engagement sessions, you’re very likely to receive at least 40 images.

  • Yes, the Full Day option for my Your Big Day wedding photography includes an engagement session. This can be booked in as soon as you like after agreeing to have me as your wedding photographer.

If you are opting for Half Day or Part Day coverage of your wedding, an engagement session can be added on to your wedding photography - please ask when we meet to discuss your special day!

  • Your engagement photo session can take place in most outdoor settings. If you have a particular location that is meaningful to you, I’d love to hear about it when you get in touch. Local parks are always great options. I can suggest some fabulous locations depending on where you have in mind. Please do ask if you aren’t sure that a location you have in mind would be suitable.

  • I always suggest something slightly dressy for an engagement session but you can wear anything that you are both comfortable in and that is also practical. Because engagement sessions take place in outdoor locations there is always the possibility of grass, uneven surfaces or even a little mud. So long as you’re fine with throwing a pair of trousers or a top in the washing machine after the session, that’s good for me! The bottom line is wear what you feel good in.

Similar colour schemes always work well - coordinating styles with each other and complimentary colour helps your images be cohesive and stand the test of time.

  • My approach for an engagement photo session is simple: images of you both that are comfortable, genuine and fun. The key to that - just be yourselves, enjoy each other’s company and, to a certain degree, pretend I’m not even there!

I will tell you where to stand or sit, as well as give advice on how to pose so that your images are natural. I will shoot both posed and candid images throughout your session and will give you clear directions to make your session successful and enjoyable.

  • Generally, natural light dictates the ‘best’ time of day for your engagement photo session. During the morning is usually good but I would personally suggest that late afternoon (or early evening, depending on the time of year) is ideal with the sun lower in the sky with the warmth it brings to your images.

  • Engagements happen throughout the year but that doesn’t mean that your photo session needs to take place straight away!

I love the autumn with its rich colours and the cooler temperatures also mean that layers are must, which gives us the chance to mix up the look of your images too. If you prefer it warmer, summer style is an ideal look for engagement photos too.

  • If the weather isn’t looking ideal the day before or day of your session, we will be in touch with each other to discuss your options. If we decide that it would be best to rearrange, we can do that.

Likewise, if one of you isn’t feeling too well do let me know as soon as possible so that we can rearrange. You need to be comfortable!

  • Brilliant, let’s check our diaries! First, please complete the enquiry form on this page with as much information as you can and I will get back to you as soon as possible so that we can get your engagement photo session arranged. I’m already looking forward to it!

Let’s get you in the diary!
