What better way to create beautiful timeless memories of all the members of your family than with a relaxed and comfortable photo session that really captures the character of your pet?

Being based in Louth, Lincolnshire and as a professional family and pet photographer, I know many wonderful locations to capture natural and genuine images of even the smallest members of your family. My PawTraits pet photography sessions are fun and relaxed and we work as your animal’s pace. If they need a break - no problem! The aim of a pet photo session is to create a set of images which you will be able to use to celebrate you dogs, cats or other animals that are an essential part of your family. I work discreetly and encourage your pet to be themselves whilst capturing beautiful timeless images.

PawTraits pet photoshoots are a fun and comfortable experience for everyone

Your pet portrait session usually lasts around an hour, but if it takes a little longer that’s fine, during which my goal is to work with you to capture the real character of your dog, cat or other animal. You know your pet best and know what works for them. I work at their pace. They can be themselves and can run, jump or whatever they need to do to be comfortable. My experience as a pet photographer in Louth, Lincolnshire and elsewhere has taught me that the more relaxed your pet, the better the images of them will be and the more cooperative they tend to be!

Choosing a location that is comfortable and familiar for your pet

I suggest that your pet photoshoot takes place in an outdoor setting, as the natural light makes it easier to capture all the details of your animal. As an experienced professional family and pet photographer, I would suggest that a large open space, such as a park or large garden, is a good option.  That way there’s plenty of space and if we need to move away to a quieter location we can do so. A location that the pet is familiar with is often a good idea. I have plenty of ideas of some great locations which provide fabulous backdrops but I always love to hear your suggestions. If you have a particular location in mind, do let me know when you get in touch to book your PawTraits session. Around Lincolnshire there are so many wonderful places for your images such as Hubbard’s Hills on the edge of Louth, Ostlers Plantation near Woodhall Spa, People’s Park in Grimsby, Willingham Woods near Market Rasen and some of the many wonderful beaches along the East Lindsey coastline being some of my own favourites.

Your pet isn’t a great ‘sitter’? No problem!

Sometimes people have said to me that their pet doesn’t follow instructions in the way that they would like. That’s okay and we can work with that. Some of the best images are active shots which depict your animal simply being themselves. If they want to run, that can make for wonderful photographs. Likewise, if they love to be a little ‘lazy’ that’s great too. A PawTraits pet photo session is aimed at creating images of your pet in their comfort zone. Bringing plenty of treats and one or two toys is a useful idea and one that helps settle your pet and makes our job a little easier to capture stunning and fun portraits of your animal.

The album of our dogs that you did was beautiful, as was the photo frame. Every time I look at the pictures it brings a tear to my eye, as we love our dogs so very much. Your work on these pictures was quite simply outstanding and we would recommend your services to everyone.

What do I get asked the most?

  • Your pet photoshoot will last around one hour. Afterwards, you will be able to view your images in your online gallery. Once you have selected your favourite images from the session, they will be fully edited and you will be able to download them. We can arrange to get them printed if you wish.

  • During your session I will capture many images. Afterwards you will be able to view the unedited proofs of the images and select your favourite 20 images which will be edited, which you can them download in high resolution from your private password-protected gallery on to your devices. All of the images can be edited in both colour and also in black and white. If you would like additional images, I can give you a current price for those as well as a quote should you want canvases, wall art or prints.

  • Your pet photo session can take place in most outdoor settings. If you have a particular location that you have in mind, please do let me know about it when you get in touch. Local parks are always great options. I can suggest some fabulous locations depending on where you have in mind. Please do ask if you aren’t sure that a location you have in mind would be suitable.

  • You know your pet best so feel free to bring along anything that you feel will assist in keeping your pet’s focus. If that means plenty of treats, then so be it. Likewise, if a particular couple of toys would help to keep them entertained that’s a god idea too. Plus active images of your pet interacting with those toys can make for great, fun images!

  • Absolutely! In these days of social media, spotting others' photos and wondering whether an idea might work as part of your photo session is inevitable. I love to try new ideas and am always happy to give them a try - it really depends on how cooperative your pet is likely to be! If is something that you would especially like to give a go, let me know before your session wherever possible. That way I can plan ahead in case it requires me to bring along an extra piece of gear or, at least, some consideration about how to achieve the desired result.

  • My diary soon fills up so it is always a good idea to make arrangements early for your pet photo session, especially if you have a certain date or time of year in mind.

If you require a weekend or need to fit in with work commitments, please do let me know at the earliest opportunity so that I can check my availability for you.

  • If the weather isn’t looking ideal the day before or day of your session, we will be in touch with each other to discuss your options. If we decide that it would be best to rearrange, we can do that.

Likewise, if you or your pet isn’t feeling too well do let me know as soon as possible so that we can rearrange. You all need to be comfortable!

  • Brilliant, let’s check our diaries! First, please complete the enquiry form on this page with as much information as you can and I will get back to you as soon as possible so that we can get your pet photo session arranged. I’m already looking forward to it!

Let’s get you in the diary!
